Is There An Impending Energy Shortage?

Our dependence on fossil fuels has been allowed to continue and thrive with relatively short lived supply shortages. Most people under thirty living in the United States can't fully grasp the concept of an energy shortage.

There have been price increases, and price gauging at times. There have been restrictions on consumption, but unless you've lived through a time period where fuel and energy supply could not meet demand, it may seem unlikely to impact your life.

There have been times in our nations history when fuel supply was at an all time low. A gas shortage can bring the U.S. to a complete standstill as consumers spend hours in line at a gas station waiting to fuel their cars.

Not likely to recur? Unless consumers become more energy conscious and accept alternative energy sources it will have to happen again. Fossil fuels are a limited resource and there will come a time when there is nothing left to consume.

There is a growing interest and acceptance of alternative energy, but not for the reasons most environmentalists had expected. It's not the impact on the environment that has fueled the current interest. It's the economic dependence, and price increases that are sending consumers to renewable energy sources.

Most people care about the environment and the well being of mother earth, but it's such a large concept to grasp. Most people don't think about the ozone layer, but they are reminded every day when gas prices reach $4 a gallon.

The good news for people who are interested in using renewable energy is the difficulty in setup has dramatically decreased. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to build a solar panel. You just need to be able to follow a simple guide written for the average consumer.
